Answers about EmojiClip search, copying, extension permissions, local data, and browser support.

Is EmojiClip free?

Yes. The website and currently published browser extensions are free to use, with no account required.

How do I copy an emoji?

Search or browse a category, choose a skin-tone variant if needed, and click the emoji. Paste it into a chat, document, or form.

Why does it look different after pasting?

You copy a Unicode character, not a fixed image. Apple, Google, Microsoft, Samsung, and individual apps draw different artwork, and an older device may not support a new emoji.

Which search languages are supported?

The interface is available in Chinese, English, Japanese, French, Spanish, and Hindi. Chinese search also supports common Pinyin. If slang does not match, try a synonym or a general English term.

Where are favorites, groups, combinations, and recent items saved?

They are stored locally by the extension together with the combination draft, theme, and skin-tone preference. Nothing is synced to an account or cloud. Removing the extension or clearing its data deletes these records.

Why does the extension need storage and clipboardWrite?

storage keeps theme, skin tone, usage history, popup settings, and the clipboard draft. clipboardWrite supports user-requested copy and insertion fallback. Chrome/Edge use activeTab and scripting; Firefox uses activeTab and tabs.executeScript. The current tab is connected temporarily only for fast mode or popup auto-insert. The extension requests no sidePanel, host permissions, browsing history, or persistent content scripts, and does not read or upload page text.

How do I open the popup and emoji clipboard?

Click the toolbar icon to open the classic popup, then click the clipboard icon at the top to reveal the bottom emoji clipboard. While it is open, each emoji click adds another item, and Copy writes the whole sequence. Alt+Shift+E (⌥+Shift+E on macOS) opens fast mode near the pointer.

Which browsers are supported?

Install the Chrome version from the Chrome Web Store, the Firefox version from Mozilla Add-ons, or the Edge version from Microsoft Edge Add-ons.
